Online gaming represents fun for most people, plus they're a nice way to socialize with others. If that was false, all those millions would do something else. Of course, for some people being a good game player is harder than it is for others. But that's true as it applies mostly to people new to it or those who don't do it much. But that's fine as getting your sea legs does not have to be an impossible thing to do. If you're lefty, try to get a mouse for left-handed people because eventually you're going to need it. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you make sure that you have a good time gaming.
Anyone interested in a MMORPG (Massive MultiPlayer Online Role Playing Game) community, and desires to be a part of one, just must devote some time to reading about what's going on with the game. This goes beyond having the basic equipment you need (like left handed mouses and keyboard shortcuts).
You're also going to need to do some extracurricular reading at the appropriate forums and other net locales pertinent to your game of choice. Why bother with that? So that you will know when new patches and fixes for the game are released and when special events happen. Some of these things are only announced on forums or blogs so try your best to keep up. An adequate net connection speed will help. Trying to game with a dial-up can be painful, and if you have to use one - we feel for you; maybe you can find a place that has a faster connection. Another potential kiss of death is if your computer is... outdated, shall we say which is very frustrating. We know it's not always possible to have the latest and greatest, but the closer you can get yourself to what you need, the better it will be. You probably won't know for sure what you need, so that's why it's important to read the specs for the game you want. Take the time to check everything out so you're not angry if you run it and it's working at about 50%.
You can get great feedback simply by asking for it. Getting used to using your left handed mouses or keyboards can be tricky. Do you know anyone else who is lefty, if you meet someone merely ask them if they can give you advice about it. Even if you're not a bad player, or if you're good, it's a smart idea to ask people for any good advice. You will see that many gamers like helping beginners because it gives them a chance to show-off their knowledge. Don't be shy and brush off someone who comes to you and asks for your help either.
While it can be, and is, serious; online games are serious fun - people just want to have fun and relax. If you take it too seriously or try to be super stubborn about getting your own way, you won't have any fun.
More importantly, if you act like a brat, the other people in your game won't have any fun either and nobody will want to play anymore. As always... if you're a lefty, there's so much more to online gaming than having that whiz-bang left-handed mouse. Gaming in about fun, not the left-handed mouse affair.
